Spanish, Portuguese & Basque Research Tips - Family Tree Magazine
Hope to compile as much information on Spanish research as possible. Any information or interesting links to sites on any Spanish research information is welcome!! Thanks.
Serendipity! I'm heading to Spain tomorrow on another research trip and I'd never seen this article. One fault with this article is that it assumes all those with Spanish ancestry came from South of the border. My husband's family came here directly from Madrid fleeing Franco. They arrived by plane to NYC, like most of the other Spaniards I meet in New England. Tracing this family is slightly different because I usually seek out 19th and 18th century records, not those from the 1500s and 1600s.
ReplyDeleteHeather, How exciting that you are visiting Spain! I know what you mean, unfortunately there is not much written about Spanish research originating from Spain. At the moment I am trying to find all the articles that I can find online. I am finding that most articles seem to have been written a few years ago. Hopefully, the changing technology will facilitate this area. Would really like to dialogue with you regarding any research and repositories you learn about, that you may be willing to share from your trip when you get back. So far I have found 'relatives' in Spain and need to connect the dots which so far has been somewhat challenging with the long distance. My slow, journey so far has been really interesting. I am looking forward to deepening my research as I get my preliminaries done. Hope you have a great and safe trip!
